The first open-heart surgery in the south of the capital
Open-heart surgery (CABG) on a 70-year-old patient was successfully performed for the first time in the south of Tehran at Firouzabadi Hospital, affiliated with Iran University of Medical Sciences.
According to the public relations report of Firouzabadi Hospital, Dr. Ali Tayebi, the hospital's director, stated: "A 70-year-old patient, after undergoing angiography and due to blocked coronary arteries, was selected for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), which was successfully performed."
Tayebi added that this type of open-heart surgery was conducted for the first time at Firouzabadi Hospital, affiliated with Iran University of Medical Sciences, and also marked the first time such a procedure was performed in the south of the capital.
He also emphasized that the hospital's operating room has been equipped for future open-heart surgeries, noting: "With the upgraded facilities in the operating room and the presence of experienced surgeons from Iran University of Medical Sciences, this service will continue to be provided to patients at Firouzabadi Hospital.
